Provincial Minister for Power Choudary Armughan Subhani has said that Punjab Chief Minister Choudary Pervez Elahi would announce hydro-electricity policy within a couple of days. Under the proposed policy dams would be constructed in collaboration with the private sector in Punjab. Armughan Subhani disclosed that four hundred sites were under consideration in different areas for the construction of dams for generating hydro electricity.

Work on the construction of dams would be started in different areas as soon as the policy is announced.

The step is being taken for producing maximum electricity aimed at overcoming its shortage. Subhani said that government was keen to provide sufficient electricity to the industrial sector to keep the industrial wheel in full motion in the Province.
